Americans for Prosperity’s Comments to the Texas House State Affairs Committee

Thank you to Americans for Prosperity and Genevieve Collins, their Texas State Director for submitting comments to the Texas House State Affairs Committee for their hearing on data centers. AfP’s comments can be found on page 148.

“Consumer Regulated Electricity (CRE) offers practical solutions to the ever-increasing demands on the ERCOT grid. The CRE concept would allow off-grid electricity providers to serve customers under private contracts and would allow those providers to generate, transmit, and distribute electricity in much the same manner that current providers operate. The difference between the traditional electricity model and the CRE reform lies in its regulation.

Under the CRE reform, the CRE provider would operate outside of the jurisdiction of the Public Utility Commission of Texas and would not connect in any manner to the grid operated by ERCOT or any other Regional Transmission Organization (RTO) or Independent System Operator (ISO). The CRE system would be totally separate from and without interconnection to the current grid that operates in Texas, thereby alleviating load demand.”
