Ford to convert EV battery plants to make battery storage for data centers

Private investors bear the risk of their investments, not captive ratepayers. I applaud Ford for finding a way to take a failed investment and try to turn it into a good one.

As investments in the electricity sector become riskier, we need to find ways of getting private investors to bear the risk, not captive ratepayers. "Consumer Regulated Electricity" (CRE) is one way. CRE envisions off-grid but large-scale utilities: having many customers, in a competitive space, and with the ability to design a utility from the ground up using 21st century concepts and technologies.
