SPN’s recent annual meeting
Thank you to State Policy Network and Amy Oliver Cooke for the opportunity to participate on the "Golden Age of Energy Abundance" panel at SPN's recent annual meeting. I provided a quick introduction to "Consumer Regulated Electricity" (CRE) but spent more of my time making the case for breaking out of the existing "regulator regulated" paradigm. Today we need more electricity supply while the existing grids are becoming more fragile. We must think outside of the existing grids.
(1) We must enable consumers to engage directly with their suppliers to negotiate key commercial terms.
(2) We must enable competition in all facets of electricity.
Direct consumer engagement and competition and will drive cost reductions, efficiencies, speed, and perhaps most importantly, the innovation that "regulator regulated" electricity has denied us for more than a century. Think about that. A century is a very long time.
