Utilities should develop data center tariffs to protect consumers, decarbonize: SWEEP
There are many “economic engineering” ideas out there for solving the problems with the heavily regulated electricity sector. Few speak about the most obvious solution - employing free markets. Free markets are THE greatest economic problem solving tool. “Consumer Regulated Electricity” or CRE is a free market tool for addressing some of the problems with the sector. CRE calls on states to enable (not subsidize, not design) the creation of new, competitive, independent utilities. These new utilities would be faster moving and far more innovative. How do we know?
