Governor Abbott Directs TCEQ To Halt Data Center Permits

In a Texas with Bring Your Own Power (CRE customized for Texas), there would be no need for the governor to impose permitting delays on BYOP connected data center projects due to issues with ERCOT. That’s because BYOP systems will be off-grid, not connected to ERCOT, and exempt from public utility regulation.

BYOP systems will be different because they will be able to scale beyond the typical one customer/one site project. Supplying multiple customers and multiple sites will increase efficiency, lower costs, improve reliability, and result in a smaller environmental footprint.
