Will the new Executive Orders on nuclear energy speed the development and deployment of nuclear power in the U.S.? Technology development and commercialization is complicated and so the pace is impossible to predict. But there is a relatively easy step that states can take today to inject speed and innovation into their power sector. “Consumer Regulated Electricity” or CRE offers states a pathway to enabling the development of new, independent, competitive, and utility-scale utilities. These “CRE Utilities” would have to be fast moving and incredibly innovative as success in a hotly competitive business demands those attributes. Competitive and innovative utilities? Now that sounds as American as apple pie.
